2020 CrossFit Lowlands Throwdown specifics
With the 2020 season starting exactly a month from now, we thought it was about time to release the specifics for the 2020 CrossFit Lowlands Throwdown.
First and foremost we are proud to announce that the number of athletes on our competition floor will more than double to 480 athletes!
We have added 3 divisions, opening up our competition to athletes from different categories. Next year the athletes on the competition floor will be divided over the divisions as follows:
That’s right; we have added 3 divisions: RX, scaled and Masters 45+!
As usual, our online qualifier consists of 3 workouts that have to be performed on the same day in a specific order (please note; you have to perform all the WODS on the same day, not in a 24-hour window).
We know you’d like to start tomorrow but you’ll have to wait till this season's Online Qualifier dates, which are March 5th till March 10th 2020.
For those of you who cannot wait for the 2020 CrossFit Lowlands Throwdown to start, we’ve got some great news: This year we will use the CrossFit Open as a qualification system for the Elite Male and Elite Female athletes. Not only will the top 10 Open finishers worldwide earn an invite, we will also send out invites to the top finishers in the national Opens for athletes from the Benelux countries.
How can the slots for the CrossFit Lowlands Throwdown be earned?
In the Elite categorie invites will be granted to:
- The top 10 worldwide in the 2020 CrossFit Open
- The top 5 in the 2020 CrossFit Open in the Netherlands
- The top 3 2020 CrossFit Open in Belgium
- The numbers 1 and 2 in the 2020 CrossFit Open in Luxembourg.
The remaining 40 spots in the Elite Male and Elite Female category will be earned via the online qualifier. Should an athlete who is invited via the CrossFit Open decline, there is no backfill, but the slot opens up for an athlete from the online qualifier.
Teams, age groups and athletes in the RX or Scaled division can earn their invite through the online qualifier. Just like last year, teams will have to perform all three qualifier workouts as a team (e.g. all team members have to be together).
We understand you can hardly wait for registration dates and more information to be released. That’s why our team is working very hard to release more info as soon as possible. In the meantime, should you have any questions concerning the above please don’t hesitate to contact us via our social channels.
Please note that the exact rules and regulations will be released in the 2020 Rulebook, no rights can be drived from this post.
